Bio

Rodrigo Eberienos was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1979. He picked up the diatonic harmonica in 1994 and never put it down — not even through medical school. He still splits his week between the hospital and the stage, with the same discipline in both rooms.

He studied with Flávio Guimarães and Nilo Guzman, spent 1996 in Chicago sitting in on the city’s jams, and in 1998 represented Brazil at SPAH in the United States. The next year he started chromatic harmonica with José Staneck and entered the studio circuit: soap operas, commercials, and other people’s records.

His harp moves through blues, soul, jazz, forró, and Brazilian music. He recorded for A Favorita, Começar de Novo, Babilônia, América, Malhação, O Profeta, Eterna Magia, and A Turma do Didi. He has shared records and stages with Sandy & Júnior, Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, Nanda Moura, Nasi, Brendan Power, and Mark Ford.

In 2005 he released the solo album Acusticamente. In June 2025 came New Old Stock, on KickOff Music: blues standards with his own arrangements and the original Rumba for My Little Boy, written for his son.

In November 2025, in Trossingen — the world capital of the harmonica — he took 1st place in the Diatonic Blues/Rock/Country/Folk category at the World Harmonica Festival, the instrument’s main competition. He also competed in chromatic jazz. He is an official JDR Harmonicas artist.

In the same cycle he was nominated for the 2025 SPAH Awards in Bernie Bray Harmonica Player of the Year and Stan Harper Award of Special Merit — member nominations from the Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica, not awards won.
